Market Representatives
You'll make sure our customers and co-workers have a great experience while you represent the Edgewood Apiaries Brand at our farmers markets and events. You'll handle hands-on retail sales and distribution of our products, plus record keeping and financial management for each market.
What you'll do
- Set-up and breakdown of pop-up store (tent, tables, displays) with appealing displays for efficient sales flow.
- Premium customer service to all customers with active engagement/presence and personable interactions.
- Accurately completes sales ensuring customer payments process.
- Attends marketing meetings to maintain knowledge of weekly changes to product availability, promotions, new product launches, etc.
- Communication with Market Manager on inventory status, customer feedback, sell through rates, scheduling, etc. (preferred via Zoom).
- Cash drawer accuracy. Representative is responsible for balancing of drawer.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Market Manager when necessary.
What we're looking for
- Passion for local farming, beekeeping, handcrafted products and/or the agriculture/specialty food industry.
- Experience in service, agriculture, sales and/or marketing positions.
- Accurate and quick mental math and highly developed communication skills.
- Attention to detail, ability to manage cash drawer and work point of sale system.
- Enthusiasm, good attitude, trustworthiness, personal integrity and honesty.
- Ability to work autonomously and distinguish when to delegate or ask for input/help.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.
Hours and pay
- Pay Range: $15/hour with incentive bonuses for attendance & demonstrated abilities.
- Part-time hours: 4-8 per shift, 1-4 shifts/week, seasonal role. Season and weekend schedule by market are in the cards below.
- Attendance: 90% or higher attendance through the market season. Days off can be planned with 14-30 days notice so we can position backup support.
- Reliability is key: no call outs day-of and timeliness is a MUST.
Physical requirements
- Able to bend, kneel, slide, shuffle, push and pull 30-50lbs safely and independently.
- Able to tolerate extreme temperatures and/or weather safely while maintaining a good attitude.
- Able to stand and maintain attention for shift entirety. We do not sit or utilize phones while on shift at Market.
How we measure success
- Positive customer feedback about customer experiences.
- Low/no percentage of discrepancy between recorded sales and monetary calculations.
- Maintaining and/or increasing market gross sales.
- Reliable availability March-December: no same-day call-outs, on-time, on-site arrival and set up of store front, days off set up 14-30 days in advance.

- Now-December; specifically Saturday and Sunday
- Early starts
- Early hours (7am) on weekends
Tidewater
- Where
- Tidewater / Hampton Roads markets and events (Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Newport News area)
- Stops
- Seasonal events such as the Norfolk Wine Festivals and Virginia Beach Christmas Market at the Virginia Beach Convention Center
- Hours
- 4-8 per shift, 1-4 shifts/week, seasonal role running March-December
- Availability
- March-December; Saturdays and Sundays specifically
- Early starts
- Early hours and weekends as events require. Typically 7am-1pm for Farmers Markets. Event schedules vary.
