Fire cider used: Herbs & Honey | Honey used: Heart of Piedmont
Our Herbs & Honey fire cider is the traditional one, with horseradish, garlic, onion, ginger, orange and thyme in apple cider vinegar, finished with honey. That might sound like a lot for a cocktail. But gin is already an herb drink, and a little of this fire cider gives a gimlet a savory, peppery edge. Pour it next to a cheese board.
Honey syrup for the gin drinks
stir 1/4 cup Heart of Piedmont Honey into 1/4 cup warm water until it dissolves. Cool it before using. It keeps in a covered jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Please enjoy responsibly. 21+ only.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces gin
- 1/2 ounce Fire Cider: Herbs & Honey, shaken well
- 1/2 ounce honey syrup (recipe above)
- 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme, one for the shaker and one to garnish
- Ice
Steps
- Put one thyme sprig and the honey syrup in a shaker and press it gently with a muddler or spoon a few times.
- Add the gin, fire cider, lime juice and ice. Shake for about 12 seconds.
- Double strain (through the shaker strainer and a small fine strainer) into a chilled coupe.
- Garnish with the second thyme sprig.
Tips
- Start with 1/2 ounce of fire cider. It's savory, so add more a little at a time after you taste.
- Keep your fire cider in the fridge after opening, and shake it every time you pour.
