Whiskey Barrel Aged Honey for the Host
You need a special jar of honey for the person who sets high expectations in life, loves food and beverages and isn’t afraid of a Michelin Star reservation. So, not another candle, not a bar of soap (no matter how cool honey soap may be). And certainly not a jar of honey you have to explain from a catalog page at the door.
On our farm in Bremo Bluff, that jar is Whiskey Barrel Aged Honey.
This is a collaboration with Tarnished Truth Distillery. Raw Virginia honey from hardwood trees and wildflowers spends about five months in a Virginia bourbon barrel. Oak and vanilla show up. Spice is alive. For clarification, this honey has zero alcohol content. It may hold small particles of charcoal from the barrel. That is barrel work, not a cocktail claim. If you want the honey bourbon we’re not at all offended, we love it too, definitely dial up Tarnished Truth for that.
What to put on the table
Coffee in the morning. A charcuterie board in the evening. Apple or peach slices. Smoked gouda. Brussels sprouts with bacon. Those are the farm uses we already say out loud. Pass the jar. Let people taste it and definitely come back and tell us how you used it.
Sizes on the website right now are 6 oz at $22.50, 12 oz at $42.00, and 16 oz at $52.00. Customers have asked for the entire barrel but that would be messy!
