I built Edgewood so a customer could walk up to a retail counter, or open a named jar online, and get something true. That rule is not only for honey. It applies to pollen too. Virginia does not make as much hive product as households want. When we can keep something local, we do. What we sell is Far & Away Bee Pollen Granules. Four ounces. Raw pollen, dehydrated. Suggested use on the jar is one teaspoon a day. That is granulated bee pollen. We do not call it organic. The jar is not labeled that way because we can not control where the bees go in search of food.
Bee pollen granules are the little pellets bees pack on their legs as they work flowers. The color shifts with the forage. That is normal. Our pollen comes from a third generation beekeeper out of Boise, ID. Oleg Ptaylo manages about 200 colonies with pollen primarily coming from dandelion, wild yellow mustard, clover, carrot seed and Russian olive.
How people use it here: sprinkle on a salad, blend into a smoothie, or stir into yogurt, granola, or a parfait. One teaspoon is the suggested daily amount.
Keep it out of reach of children. Do not give it to a child under 1 unless a physician says to. Bee-derived ingredients can cause a reaction. If you are pregnant, nursing, or on medication, get advice first. Stop and get help if anything feels wrong.
